Finding a Comfortable Bike Seat (a.k.a. Saddle)

There are bike seats made specifically for women but finding the correct one isn’t as easy as choosing the “pink one.” It’s like finding the right pair of shoes. Comfort is key here and, sadly, it may take multiple tries before you find the perfect saddle for you. Once you’ve found it, though, you’ll know it and bike riding can once again be an enjoyable activity.

Women’s bike seats are slightly wider than men’s bike seats to fit a women’s sit bones better. Cut-outs are also designed to relieve pressure on sensitive areas. Each manufacturer will use different methods to produce what they believe is the perfect design.

It is also important to ensure you are correctly fitted to your bike. Seat height, fore-aft on the rails, and the angle of your seat will all affect how you feel when you are sitting on the saddle. Most bicycle shops have qualified “fitters” who can correctly fit you to your bicycle ensuring your bicycle is adjusted properly.

I´m from the south of Chile, and I would like if you could recommend a comfortable seat. Because I ride cross-country and sometimes when I go long distance, it´s hard to sit the next day. Please, could you recommend some so I can find the correct one.
